A special day...

Children were rushing down the streets, with some "aunties" following them.....
No No, its not a case of a robbery by a gang of children, rather it's the Eighth Day of Navratri (or The "kanjak" Day). This is the day when you can see countless number of little girls, from all adjoining areas, dressed in the bestest of their outfits (from lehenga, shimmering suits to skirts etc), running, shouting and counting their hard 'earned' money and going to any and every home they can. Religious, it would be for elders, but for these little angels, its an occasion to eat "puri-chhole-halwa" and collecting a variety of gifts. Along with these excited tiny tots, you'll find lot of "aunties" running after them to call them to their homes. I very well remember the days when i along with my friends used to form a group of five and go together, running along the unknown lanes, popping out of 1 home and makin way to another. Plus, how can i forget the "aashirwaad" session during this kanya-puja, when the elders used to touch our feet and we used to pat their back a li'l harder(chuckling) and they enjoyed it without a word :). It was like a small victory of ours on them. I miss those days a lot.
